Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Hane Filter by Klowra.

Hane Filter: Frequencies fluttering at the wingtips.

Hane Filter is a highly expressive envelope filter and auto-wah designed around touch sensitivity and dynamic response. Inspired by classic analog tracking behavior, it reacts naturally to every nuance of your picking attack.

It inherits the legendary response characteristics of classic analog tracking hardware. The built-in envelope follower acts as a delicate feather, sensing the most minute fluctuations in your playing through its expressive feel, directly driving the breathing filter sweeps of the multi-engine filter. The filter’s opening and closing are governed entirely by your touch: a forceful strike unleashes wide, powerful up and down sweeps, while gentler picking yields exquisite dynamic timbre shaping. This sensitive tactile feedback allows you to effortlessly achieve a vocal filter effect with a distinctive synth attack.

Controls

Controls

MODE Button

Press this button to cycle through the three operating modes of the pedal. The color of the LED indicates the currently selected mode:

  • LFO (White) - The effect is driven by the internal Low Frequency Oscillator. The modulation sweep is periodic and constant, independent of your playing dynamics.

  • Envelope (Blue) - The effect is controlled by your instrument's audio signal. In this mode, the frequency sweep is triggered by the Attack time, allowing the modulation to dynamically track your playing.

  • LFO + Envelope (Orange)  - A combination of both modulation sources. The LFO and the input signal's envelope interact to drive the effect simultaneously, creating complex and interactive modulation sweeps.

FREQ

Adjust the center position of the filter's frequency range.

DRIVE

Adjust the input sensitivity and the intensity of the effect.

*In Envelope mode, this parameter does not alter the output volume. For optimal    response, vary the DRIVE control until the Indicator LED flashes red on the loudest notes you play.

RATE(ATTACK)

  • LFO or LFO + Envelope modes: Adjust the LFO rate.

  • Envelope mode: Adjust the Attack time of the sweep response.

RES

Adjust the height of the filter's resonance peak.

Toggle Switch

Determines what frequency range the filter will pass. Emphasize bass with Low Pass, midrange in Band Pass and treble with the High Pass.

Footswitch

Control ON/OFF; Press and hold to trigger specific functions based on the current active mode. The LED turns purple when a specific function is engaged.

Specific Functions by Mode:

  • LFO (White) - Activates the Tap Tempo function to adjust the RATE in real-time. This mode automatically exits after 5 seconds of inactivity.

  • Envelope (Blue) - Reverses the direction of the filter sweep.

  • LFO + Envelope (Orange) - Ramps the effect up to the current RATE value.

Indicator LED

The LED color indicates the selected mode. In bypass, the LED is off.

Rear Panel I/O

9V DC

Connect to a 9V DC power supply with a center-negative polarity and a minimum current rating of 150mA.

Note: If the power supply is insufficient, the pedal may malfunction.

IN L (Mono)

1/4" mono (TS) unbalanced left input for mono setups.

OUT L (Mono)

1/4" mono (TS) unbalanced left output for mono setups.

CTRL

3.5mm TS input for connecting an external footswitch.

Note: This input only recognizes TS footswitch signals to trigger the specific function. Its operation is identical to a long press of the onboard footswitch (momentary trigger, no insertion detection).

Power-Up Modes

Power-Up Modes

How To enter Power-Up Modes:

Press & hold the footswitch while powering on the pedal. A flashing LED indicates successful entry. Once your settings are configured, press the footswitch again to exit Power-Up Modes.

In this mode, you can adjust the following settings:

Bypass Modes

Switch between modes by short-press the MODE button.

  • True Bypass

The signal is routed directly through the pedal with no buffering or coloration.

  • Green LED flashes to indicate True Bypass mode.

  • Buffered Bypass

The signal is routed through a buffer with Analog Dry Through, allowing delay trails to continue after the effect is bypassed.

Red LED flashes to indicate Buffered Bypass mode.

LED Brightness

Adjust by rotating the RATE(ATTACK) knob.

- Turn fully left for dimmest.
- Turn fully right for brightest.
